For the average consumer, film chain transfers are the most affordable method for preserving old 8mm, Super 8mm, and 16mm home-movie film onto a digital medium.

Film can be transferred anywhere from 16 to 26 fps and produce a crisp and flicker-free image. Chain transfers utilize an aerial image transfer process through the help of Broadcast quality 3CCD cameras in conjunction with special telecine projectors.

The film frame floats in mid air while the optics of the camera, slated for over 600 lines of resolution, focuses on the image. With the absence of a mirror, screen, or box, this process produces extremely vibrant images without any loss in color fidelity.

The resulting image is sent directly via firewire (at 520 HLR) to one of our computer workstations. This process allows us to edit out leaders, blank spots, add soundtracks, titles, and output to various video formats. If DVD is the desired output format, complete customization of chapter marks, navigation, and more is available. The final digital files can be supplied on video, DVD, or both.

Frame-By-Frame Film Transfers
For the discriminating and professional customer, we offer a high quality, low cost alternative to film scanning. Frame-by-frame transfers are performed at over 800 lines of resolution.

Video Transfers (Basic)
Basic Video Transfers are perfect for individuals looking for a straight archive of their video formats. Customization features are not available.

Super 8mm film with magnetic sound and 16mm film with optical or magnetic sound is transferred directly with the film.

Euro-Pacific accepts 8mm, Super 8 silent, Super 8 sound, 16mm silent, and 16mm sound for transfer on our chain transfer equipment.
